leo-tooWinchester's new controlled round push feed.
Saw it in Petersen's hunting mag today. A rifle called the super black shadow I believe. It works both ways; CRF or PF.

savage49494leo-too, it's a direct copy of what Savage did with their Safari Express and later Sako. I was looking at that on their website last week, not a bad looking rifle.

<allen day>I looked one of these over at a local gunstore recently, and I didn't care for the design or the workmanship at all. I'd rather have either the regular PF Model 70 action or better yet the CRF Model 70 action. This controlled/push-feed bastardization is neither fish nor foul......

okie johnI liked the one I saw. Not the most traditional thing in the rack, and allen day is right about the fit and finish, but it would do for a loaner or knockaround rifle. Too bad they only make it in their new calibers. I'd seriously consider one in 308, 30-06 or 35 Whelen. Okie John.

GatehouseLike everything else, I'll wait until a few others have played around with it...
I bought a 300WSM, but only after it had been out for over a year and the bugs had been worked on.
Who knows? It might be better than controlled expansion bullets, but I'll wait and see. There are always plenty of folks who want the newest, fastest, best ?? of everything...whether it be rifles, TV sets or trucks...

olarmyI have one in 270 WSM. Say what you want, but it feeds as smooth as my pre 64's. I think it's a very innovative design that works very well. It ain't walnut and steel, but IT WORKS. (And it's the most accurate unaltered factory rifle that have purchased in 40 years. Jim

savage49494olarmy, it wouldn't surprise me to see more manufacturer's go this route. A friend of mine has one of the early Savage's in .425 Express and is a very smooth feeding rifle, probably better than most Savages. Next Sako did it and now Winchester. Wouldn't surprise me to see this as the next 'big' development in gun manufacture.
I think more important than the debate on push feed and CRF is feeding from the magazine. You would think that after 100+ years of development, the manufacturers could come up with a better spring arrangement than the stupid W spring they all use, especially given the price of rifles today. That's my two bits anyway.
