Guys
Curious what you have found to be the most reliable, consistent factory ammunition available.
Federal
Winchester
Black Hills
Georgia Arms
Hornady
Remington
Nosler Custom

Well, reliable how? That it will shoot?
I prefer Federal hands down, however, Remington is probably sold more than any other factory ammo. Is it reliable? Yep. Is it consistent? Yep...always consistently INaccurate in every application I've tried except ONCE, with respect to Corelokt bullets. Their accutip is a whole different ballgame, as is their other custom bullet loads.
In the rare events that I buy factory ammo, I always search Federal FIRST.

KC CarlinNosler custom Ammo, has been very good.
Hornady- although I haven't used it in a few years was very consistent.

Big Bore Boar HunterI wouldn't consider any of the brands you have listed as unreliable, but I would pick federal for consistency. A lot of what you pay for goes to the nickel plated brass though. These days, most of my ammo, including hunting ammo is reloaded.

LBGuyfederal and their premium line would be my choice.

boltmanThe only one I would definately rule out is Remington. I bought a box about ten years ago that gave me 50% misfires, no more remington ammo or primers for me. All my hunting ammo is now handloaded. I only trust myself when it comes to the stuff I shoot at game.

N E 450 No2If I had to pick one it would be Federal.
However in the last few years I have shot several thousand rounds of Winchester and Remington rifle and handgun ammo without any problems.
I have not shot as much Speer or Hornandy as the other 3, but I have not had any problem with any of them either.

larrysI'd have to go along with Federal, although Hornady is a close second.

I can only comment on the inaccuracy of Remington ammo that I have tried but it did go off reliably.

Alan R. McDaniel, Jr.I don't understand why you guys have such problems with accuracy from Rem ammo. I've got a .308 that shoots 3" groups at 300 yrds with it. I've never had a misfire with it and it is available in every filling station in the U.S.
Granted, I reload most everything I shoot so my experience is limited but I find it to be very adequate in all departments including reliability.

miles58This sounds like a personal question between you and your rifle. You might be able to buy any brand of ammo that has been stored improperly or maybe even just a bad manufacturing lot, and get some misfires. Unlikely as hell though. When it comes to what your gun will shoot best, you're going to have to ask your gun.
