DocTime to hunt all day
I put this in bowhunting since that's what I've been doing the most.
Bucks are moving all day now.14 November 2005, 20:59
Hot CoreHey Doc, Right on the nose.
It is "the" Full Moon during the Rut and they will travel a lot during the 9AM<->3PM time period right now.
Have killed some of my bigger Bucks during this time of the year. Sleep in, eat a good breakfast and go in just before 9AM works for me. Then stay until it is time to break out the old Drag Stick.

VarmintGuyDoc: The "somewhat intense" Mule Deer rut (from what I have seen so far this year) just began last Wednesday November 9th - here in Montana.
I tagged a great Mulie Buck on November 11th myself.
Now that I am back home and cleaning my gear and catching up on the computer I have been watching 21 Mule Deer in the field adjacent to my house that are IN FULL RUT!
There are 3 mature Bucks and two small Bucks in this field and they have been "at it" since sun up! Its noon here now and they are all just milling and butting and chasing and not laying down much at all!
I am going to help out on a Whitetail Hunt (drive and retrieve) this evening and I will let you know how that species is doing comparatively - rut wise.
Yep - all day is the Hunting regimen from here on out!
Hold into the wind

DocI just got an email from a lady that allows me to hunt her backyard in an urban area. She was having a lunch meeting with 4 other ladies and they were in her back room that has large windows. Her backyard is about 80 yards long and 40 yards wide and surrounded by about 5 acres of hardwoods.
About 30 feet from the edge of her pool, they were entertained by a buck breeding a Doe for about 10 minutes. She said he was "growling" so loud they could hear it in the house (I'm assuming the growling was him grunting). She also commented that there were about 3 other bucks standing at the woodline "waiting their turn."
This happened at 1215pm. Definitely STAY OUT ALL DAY!!!
