anyone used the .308 sst 150 gr on whitetails?
how does this bullet perform compared to a ballistic tip say on a 150 lb whitetail?

I haven't used it but I doubt you'd see much difference in the deer, should drop it like a sack of potatoes.

I would be more concerned with the accuracy of one over the other. How do they shoot out of your gun?

Time for a reality check here. ANY .308 in a deers lungs will put out his lights RIGHT NOW. Concern yourself less over minute of angle, and more over minute of deer. If most of your shots are under 150 yards, stick to a round nose slug. Opens faster, and transfers energy better. We all love to shoot bug hole groups, but for deer this is more an ideal than a requirement. Anything that will group in a deer vitals, at reasonable range, will do an excellent job. There are no stages of dead. Nothing survives a .308 in the lungs. In other words, don't spend your money on working up a MOA reload. Better to spend it on ammo for practice. Just my 2 cents worth.

if this was a factory rifle, and i wasn't forcing myself how to reload, i would be happy a .270 has probably killed 25 deer for me not to mention a 12ga. with bucksshot another 23 or so i know what kills them but there is so much variance in factory ammo, i am choosing to look into other routes, i just want to get the most out of this rifle thanks

Most of the 150 are fine on whittail, I like the Winchester power point and the Rem. corlokt the best, in a .308..

I also like the 180 gr. in the same configuration and the 180 RN Corlokt is an all around favorite of mine...

You won't be disapointed in any of the above I guarentee...on deer.
