Oklahoma 11

This is a pic of my 11point whitetail taken opening day rifle season in the Oklahoma Panhandle. It was quite a hunt even though it was a short one. I spotted this deer the day before while scouting. I came back Saturday morning and found him with in 200 yards from where I left the bruiser with 2 does. The stalk was well over 600 yards across some pretty open country. I snuck within 70 yards and dumped him with my 300WSM. He taped out at 152" and weighed 172 field dressed. The sticker between the G2-G3 on the left horn is pretty unique. My largest deer so far.

That is a bloody great WT buck.

I have been told that the whitetails in Texas and Oklahoma are much the same as the ones we have here in NZ size wise. That wee beastie is better than anything I've seen from here.

Our farm/ranch is near Guymon Oklahoma. Big whitetails and lots of pheasant are the norm. We are also starting to get pronghorn and mulies in the area.

Someone is full of crap and trying to keep a good thing a secret.LOL! This is my 2004 muzzleloader buck from Alfalfa county Oklahoma. He scored 178" gross.

Jeff , that is a nice one !!!! Hopefully I'll have another next year but larger. I'm watching 4-5 bucks on our place that really have some good potential. All we need is the right moisture.

Moisture in Oklahoma!LOL! Good luck with that! Actually my experience up there has been either BOOM or BUST. Our place is on the Salt Fork River and has alot of sloughs on it, but we haven't had any water in 3 or 4 years. My son and I are watching a few bucks too. I got 6000 Camtrakker pictures in October and November, so we have a pretty good idea of what deer are there. There is some real potential, but like you said, if we get some rain...

So far we are getting some pretty good moisture this winter. We are up on the Coldwater and the rains have been hit or miss. Had some good rains late in the summer. Right now we have good potential for next year. With me the only one hunting on our place and the neighbors, I hope to have several to pick and choose from. Lots of 8's and young 10's that should be some monsters if we can keep the poachers out. Here is a pic from 04. The buck was cripple in his left leg.

I worked in Texhoma for a while, but I never saw any big deer out there, although I never really looked. I need to get back out there sometime & see how everyone is doing.
