p dog shooterWis state wide doe hunt.
On purpose I shot a meat deer today.
I haven't been feeling all that great so I decide that if I was going to fill my antlerless tag.
It would have to be small and close to the road before I shot anything.
As I was poking long a logging road this morning. I noticed to my left a doe and two fawns standing about 50 yards away.
I had my Ruger 77 tang safety in 257rob.
I knelt down place the cross hair the fawn's shoulder.
Touched the shot off DRT.
Easy drag, easy loading, easy butchering.
Just what I needed.
Ended up with some of the finest eating venison one can shoot.

DIsI hunted Wisconsin this year in gun season and didn't see much although lots of standing corn around my property. Didn't feel right shooting any does with so few deer. Very liberal seasons and will probably be longer nest year.

p dog shooterIf your property is in farmland you have more deer then you know about.

I know that when the corn is still standing in the area I hunt, deer are harder to find.

One idea if you have permission to hunt the corn is sneak across the rows.
Looking down each row for deer.
