MickinColoBear Encounters
It looks like Colorado is going to have a record year for bear attacks this year. Seems like you hear about a new attack every few days lately. Most of the attacks seem to be happening around the Aspen area and a number of them are the peoples own fault by feeding them and such.
I was wondering if this is just a local problem or is it a bad year for the bears in your area too?

Seems to me that this is a problem that is isolated to where there are non hunters(like around Aspen) and no bear hunting (like New Jersey) Where I live in Maine we have more Bear around than people !! (I am serious!!)
I have NEVER heard of a bear EVER attacking anyone up here. We only feed bears at bait sites.

I'm thinking it's a problem where ever people INSIST on feeding the "nice" bears.... They watch far too much Disney BS, and have a mind set that Bears are just "nice" animals that would mever harm people. Walt Disney did the world no favors on his characterization of wild animals as being "friendly".

Allan DeGrootIf I were able to resurect people from the grave Walt Disney is one person I'd resurect just to give him a proper "Bitch slap" for his anthropomorphization of animals.
then I'd rebury him... Note, I didn't say I'd kill him before doing so....
From Wiki:
Anthropomorphism is the attribution of human characteristics to non-human creatures and beings, phenomena, material states and objects or abstract concepts. Examples include animals and plants depicted as creatures with human motivation able to reason and converse and forces of nature such as winds, rain or the sun.

meteI've met them face to face but was never attacked here in NY state . My secret ? I try not to look like a ham sandwich !!!

Nearby a friend was eating at aplace that had some outdoor benches .Next to his was a family who decided to go over and pet the bear who had come to raid the garbage bin. He had to explain that was a wild bear and could be dangerous !! Disney-itis !

MickinColoAspen is one of those special places, a world on to it’s own. There are a lot of pork chops living up there. I just didn’t know if there where any another “Aspens” around the country or not.

Aspen Hill AdventuresBlack bears in northern Quebec have no problem chomping on humans. Two years ago someone got eaten while fishing for walleye just a few miles from where I was bow hunting bruins. If they are hungry they WILL eat you.
