Bought "Bear-n-Down 6" tonight at Bass Pro. It was an "ok" video. Not near as many big bears taken as in the previous videos.

One hunter killed a 9 foot brown bear with his 7mm RUM and a 165 bullet. Instant kill.

Ralph killed a 10 footer with his ml and dumped him, one shot.

I thought those big bears needed cannons to kill. Guess not.

Yep. This was quite evident.

I'll bet there was a cannon in the background, held by the PH. Of course both guns used could be considered cannons too!
No, there is no need to hunt with a huge gun but there has to be one in case of a charge and that is where bigger is better. Also a backup handgun should be large enough.
AK has it though, "shot placement."

The accurate and well placed bullet is always going to be the most deadly that is true.
And you really don't need the bigger guns,, until you do, and then you really do.

The old saying of shoot the biggest you can shoot well says it all in my opinion.

I have no BB experience, but I think I'd feel rather confident toting my MLer with a 300-350 grain Barnes while in bear woods Of course, my Savage smokeless ML10II pushing those pills at 2300-2400 fps is no toy I guess the one shot thing would be heavy on my mind, but that's where the PH's back-up would come into play.

I have that CD, it is mostly bear baiting for bow hunting which are not my cup of tea. The last hunt though when he goes after the Brown Bear with a rifle was pretty good. As long as the gun puts the bear down there ae no complaints, but...........
