Boy that is sad, reminds me of Rodger Marris and his home run record. Major league Baseball declared his 61 homers as the only home run record five years after he died. Why do these officals drag their feet...................

Got to remember this was the early 1900's people used what they had. There were no ballistic charts or TV and/or Internet to discuss choices. The caliber choices were not what we have today, and most of their hunting was for food. To him and the limited personal knowledge of the average hunter back then on killing power and comparing it to the many muzzleloaders with round balls that were still being used that rifle probably looked more than adaquate at the time.>John

Wow, just about ANYTHING would have been a better choice than the .25-20. That's the kind of hunter who should be given a singleshot in a sensible chambering. Poor animal!
