Need Advice Bear Hunting the Adirondacks
Back in the summer I ran across a large Black Bear while riding my mountain bike on a remote trail in the Northern Adirondacks.

During the next several days I found numerous bear droppings on the trails near where we were camped @ a free state campsite. That got the bear hunting bug in me.

The 1st few days of our "early bear season" that opened on Sept. 18th, I camped @ the same site, slung my fanny pack W/a portable seat & lunch around my waist & my 8X57 Oberndoerf style Mauser across my back & headed back on the trails W/my bike.

It seems the blackberries & blueberrries are about done & even though I'm still finding some droppings on the trails, I can't find where they are feeding.

The last time out I found a trail that leads up out of the river bottoms/conifers into some hardwoods W/lots of beech & pople. I didn't have much time to really get up onto the mountain, but I did find 1 small Beech tree that had most of the limbs broken down. It seemed too small for a bear to climb though.

Anyway, does anyone have any advice on what/where the bears might be feeding? I'm hunting the Debar Mountain Game Mangement Area bordered by Meachem Lake/Loon Lake on the North end & Paul Smith's/Bloomingdale on the South. I'm also close to the Slush Pond area.
