Nebraska "Spring" Turkeys

safari-lawyerNebraska "Spring" Turkeys
Just back from my "Spring" turkey hunt in Nebraska with Gobble and Grunt Outfitters.
We awoke to six inches of snow the first morning and the temperature never got above 50 degrees the whole hunt. Add wind and rain, and it made for tough hunting. Fortunately, there were lots of birds there and I was able to tag three mature gobblers in three days of hunting.

Good looking birds you got. You first morning is picture is what Michigan looked like on the opener. We still haven't had good weather, snow stopped and the rain continues.

CrazyhorseconsultingWere you hunting in the Pine Ridge area?
I have hunted deer up there twice in the past, in the Fort Robison/Crawford area and just love that country.
Great looking birds, Congratulations.

Not sure. It was close to O'neill and Lynch. Flew to Sioux City and drove north and west about 120 miles.

Pine ridge and Fort Robbinson are about 4 hours west of were you were hunt, It's a great area for hunting both Turkey and Deer. Where you were at is pretty damn good for deer as well, but mostly private property.
Crazyhorseconsulting,
Federal forest land by Chadron. About 20 miles SE from the fort and 10 SW of Chadron.
Wonderful country, who would think flat old Nedraska would have such wonderful pine covers hills and ridges.
The snow was a real kick and fun to hunt Turkeys in.

Tim HeraldWill...it was great to have you in camp- despite the terrible weather! Always nice to have a fellow African addict to chew the fat with at night. I just wish we could have done it outside around a fire in some comfortable weather!!!
Good Hunting,
Tim Herald
