My wife has bought a few from Kodak for gifts and they've worked well. I'm sure most are actually made by just 2 or 3 companies anyway. One thing to remember here is that these are not "hardened" pieces of equipment. In other words, they're not made to be bounced around or deal with more drastic climates.

If you are talking about viewing memory cards from a game camera, any regular digital camera with the same format (SD, etc.) should read them fine. Mine does, and I have tried this in at least one other camera.

If you don't have a camera with a compatible format, go buy a $90 digital camera with the same format as your game camera. The bonus is you will have a back up in case your primary camera fails.

A memory card reader is a digital camera without the picture taking capability.

Mike, I tried that and my camera and/or computer started eating pictures, the really important ones-not the trail camera ones.

Leaf River has one that will work w/several different types of memory cards....I'm thinking of giving it a try.

You are going to pay plenty extra for the limited-feature picture viewer devices sold by the trailcam companies. I don't even know if they have "zoom" on them.

I'm with Flippy on this one, a cheap digital cam that takes the same format is the way to go. You might even find a very cheap used one on fleabay with working screen but no camera function (cheap - as in $30).

You may also be able to get by with a memory card reader and a small USB cable, then use the hotel computer to view your pics.

The other choice is to visit the local chain store pharmacy, walmart, etc. with a photo kiosk in it. You can view and even print on the spot.

I bought a Nextar MP4 player with a 1.5" x 2.5" screen and 8 gigs of memory for around $ 65 bucks including shipping. Slip the USB port in the trail camera and suck out the photos. You can view the photos and delete the ones you don't want to keep.

I use it to carry photos around that I want to have with me to show or share. It is the size of a business card case so it easily slips in your pocket. Convienient, inexpensive and functional.

What?
Viewing pictures in a digital camera won't erase them (unless there is a problem with the camera) otherwise I would have experienced this by now, I would think. I have viewed them in two different brands of camera (HP and Konica Minolta) as well as my game camera just to check this out.

I have taken well over seven thousand digital pictures in my time and have never experienced this.
Elaborate please.

Thanks for all the replies, sorry it took so long to answer back......busy @ work, kids Christmas plays etc 'tis the season.

I have not idea what happened to the SD cards. I just bought a new one for the trail camera and that's the only place, except for the PC or whichever view I get, it will be used.
