Wish me luck
I'm leaving in the morning to go film this hunt in Nebraska. Archery antelope begins statewide Aug. 20.
Show to air next fall.
Wish us luck. Using decoys and calls, and as a last resort, water holes and blinds.
Be back next Thurs.

Hopefully yall' get to put the gig on a real bruiser.

Hopefully. The outfitter has been babysitting and has seen a couple of 16", more 14-15", and quite a few 13".
He stated that he likes to have the "cards in my favor" when putting hunters on a spot. However, he said right now, they are not easy to pattern.
That is why we are opting for the spot and stalk with decoy method first.

Best of luck
What "show" is this on ?

oldun WEIDMANNSHEILI think the title of their show is "The Real Outdoors." Our episode will air next fall.
What does "WEIDMANNSHEIL" mean?

oldunDoc,
Weidmannsheil is a German word. I had an understanding that it meant "happy hunter" but but had been told by an Austrian that that was not correct. Therefore I asked for a translation on the european hunters pages. The response form Eurohunter was;
Weidmann means hunter, heil is for blessing, translation is not straight forward but the sentiment is "good hunting to you"
It is allso used as a greeting between huntsmen.
I rather like this greeting between fellow hunters and hope you do too. Using it above was my way of responding to your request for good wishes.

Oh, I'm back guys. Hunt was one of the funnest I've ever been on.
I did not get my antelope but cannot complain. I had a shot at 50 yards on day 2. We snuck right up to him, closed the distance from 3/4 mile to 50 yards. I shot high. Have no idea what happened as I hit the target dead on at camp hours before.
Kiviok got his buck on day 2...72 yard shot.
Adam had a nice 60 yard presentation on a herd buck but shot under, this was a few hours into our hunt on day one.
They had to leave early. I stayed till Wed. I would have had a 32 yard shot that afternoon and have confidence that I would have filled my tag IF IT WEREN'T FOR ABOUT 80 BLACK ANGUS COWS!!!
Yep. They ruined a perfectly good stalk. Dang it.
Anyway. We got ALL OF IT on film.
This guy has exceptional mule deer and whitetails as well. I'll be back for sure. Thinking about a deer tag OTC, muzzleloader this Dec.
Ultimately, we had more fun on this hunt than most of us have had in years. Everything was simply a blast.
It was the first archery hunt for ALL OF US, for antelope. This includes the outfitter.
It was the first archery antelope taken on this property.
It was the first antelope or ANIMAL killed with the new Black Mamba bow made by APA archery in Canada...this bow is FAST!!! It blows my Mathews away.
I'll definitely be going back.

Doc, I feel ya. My first hunt ever we some how managed to hunt in an area with lots of cows with bells. Makes for a good story, but not good hunting. Left my ears ringing to.

oldunLDHunter,
Pronunciation is allways a bit tricky, just reflect on the variety of ways Americans say things.
Anyway my German mate pronounces it;
Veyed-mans-hile.
I think it is be a great word for all hunters to say when they meet each other or exchange views.

Hey Doc, Was that one of those "TSX" arrows?!?!?!

Only kidding. It happens to everyone eventually. Hope you found the arrow so the cows don't stomp a foot on it.
Actually, that was the only disagreement I had with the guide. He didn't think we'd have a chance finding the arrow. I told him we should look for it but he blew it off.
I really wanted my arrow back too. But, we did not go look for it.
