I take a cooler and pack my daypack and all items like clothes and binos in the cooler. If I take something, I bone all the meat. An average deer will fit in 5 heavy duty 2 gallon freezer bags. Once in the bags, you can fill the cooler with ice at a motel or convience store to chill the meat. Put binos and important items in the daypack as carry on luggage.

Remove the ice from the cooler and fill the dead space with things you don't mind getting wet like dirty clothes, the cape in a plastic bag, ammo etc... Tape the cooler shut with duct tape and check it as baggage. Meat will stay cold for up to 2 days with this method. Any clothes, antlers etc... that will not fit in the cooler or daypack are shipped UPS home. I take a broken down box, roll of duct tape and a pre-paid label on the trip to make this easy.

Take it to a reputable meat processor and have him butcher, freeze, then and ship it to you.

Your on an out of state hunt, its late on the last day and you shoot your buck. Your plane flight home is at 8am the next morning. Theres not enough time for it to freeze over night. So whats the best way to get your trophy home?

Dry ice in coolers is a good way to go. Just need to protect the meat from coming directly in contact with the ice, perhaps by wrapping it.
