22WRFElk - Block Management- Montana
I can see where somebody might have some success in hunting Mule Deer on some of the Block Management sites in Montana
What I am wondering is whether anybody has ever had any success in hunting ELK on a Block Managment site.

TnomenThere are a lot of elk taken on Block Management land in the Breaks. Especially by the bow hunters. I don't know about over west but I have helped a lot of people recover elk from Block Management lands over here. The challenge is drawing a tag there if you don't bow hunt.

mt AlPeople do take elk on block management sites, but the prime places are often booked up around here (if there's a limit on the number of hunters allowed).
Also, there's less "elk" block management than deer for a bunch of reasons (non-working ranches/wealthy owners, outfitting, elk often on public land).
Nothing wrong with giving it a try, I'd just try to get on a place early in the season and hike well off the road.

elkhunterMost of the block managment areas for elk (that I have found) are for cows only.
