His death is no more saddening than the other soldiers that have died over there but having seen him play and watched him walk away from millions to fight for the freedoms that many take for granted sure makes this hit home. Pat Tillman is a true American hero and he will be sorely missed. My hats off to him and my prayers are with his family and the families of all our soldiers tonight and throughout the war.

This one has me pretty saddened and choked up.

In today's society the term "hero" is often thrown around too easily. Pat Tillman is deserving.

Once upon a time the best known Hollywood types/athletes would serve the cause. Today, Pat Tillman stands alone in that crowd.

To those still over there, here's to hoping for a safe & effective campaign. To those that can't come back, well, there are no words to express the gratitude.

Pat Tillman is a true patriot who scarifices millions and fame to serve. He never granted an interview about it because he didnt want publicity for it. He felt he had to do it.

He makes me question my patriotism

And let us not forget that Pat's brother enlisted at the same time, and if I recall they were serving in the same unit together -- both Army Rangers. -TONY

It is quite a contrast that on the day Pat Tillman gave his life for his beliefs Archie Manning and his son were whinning like little girls about having to play Football in San Diego.

Tillman gave up 3-4 million dollars to enlist in the Army to serve his Country and the Mannings are acting like spoiled brats about where Baby Manning will have to play.

Quite a contrast and a very good indicator of the mind of most, but not all, athletes.

Thanks for posting that. As you said, Pat Tillman sacrifice for us just brings it home so much more about all of the fine young men who are serving our country in this time and losing their lives every day. All of them went to do their duty and the ones we dont know who die have lost just as much. Pat Tillman just makes it so much more personal. We need to say thank you for all of them and their families. He was a fine young man. The contrast with the Mannings is ironical.

There is bravery and their is courage. Pat Tillman showed both.

Ranger Tillman gave up a lot to join the Army, but this is America and Americans are expected to do that when the time comes. That he volunteered for the Ranger Regiment simply means that he understood his duty as an American and he chose to fulfill it on one of citizenship's harder paths. He paid the ultimate price, but that's another risk of citizenship, and his death is no more or less tragic because of what he could have been had he not enlisted. Okie John

That is true but Pat Tillman put a face to all the brave young men and women who have also stepped up and done their duty. His story drives home what they all are willing to risk for this country. Too often athletes are held up as role models for the youth of America. In Pat Tillman's case he is a true role model for commitment, duty, and sacrifice. My kids are 13 and 11. Pat Tillman's story was a good object lesson for them in what a hero really is. My prayers are with his family and with all the families who have suffered loss in this conflict.
