wyoming walk in areas
I was looking at an area for pronghorn that doesnt have a bunch of public land but does show a large walk in area. Any one hunt a walkin area? Are they generally heavily hunted?
Thanks Dean

Tonto walk in areas are generally hunted pretty hard. If that area is big as you say you will have ALOT of walking to do. With the amount of Public Land out here pick an area that has ALOT of public land and go with that, you will have better success. I know people think public land and they tell themselves there will be hunters everywhere but in most cases that is not true. The later you go in the season the better chance you will have of not seeing other hunters and there will still be some monster goats around.

The walk in areas around me are hunted VERY hard..I don't even bother with them. School sections are a much better bet, and they are all over. I killed an exceptional goat on one last fall.

Tonto,

5000 acres of Wyoming antelope country isn't that much. Couple guys on foot can easily have everything stirred up in a weekend. That's less than 3 miles by 3 miles...not even 9 'sections' as they say out there. It's nothing like 640 acres of eastern woods. A 'section' can easily be glassed and covered by one person in an hour or so.

P.S. I lived in Wyoming 16 years and hunted there before and since.

There are hilltops from which you can see every antelope standing up in 5000 acres.
