.260 or 6.5x55mm/Wood or systhetic?
Settled on Ruger MK II for first rifle for my son. Will be reloading, live in Oregon (read=rain!). Love the look of deep bluing on wood, but understand the practicality of synthetic. Romanced with the international cartridges, but like the idea of staying in the .308 family. Want him to enjoy shooting it and shoot it often (hence, no -.06's here). Plinking, varmints, varmints, deer/antelope. High BC, low recoil, flat shooter. Any thoughts? If this is a repeat of a repeat, please forgive me!

Flip a coin as for as caliber. Here in Alabama it rains alot also. But we've used bluded 6.5x55s with systhetic stocks. We're selling my wifes right handed Ruger 6.5x55 as she now wants a left handed rifle. Take a look at the pix in the link below. Mabye we can work out a deal. The stock on it is an H.S. Precision that is glass beded, with a L.O.P. of 12 1/4" and I have the uncut factory wood stock. Selling it to help pay for her new left handed Winchester 6.5x55. I'll email you pix.

Stainless systhetic is the only way to go for a working rifle. having my share of nice wood and blued rifles I try and buy stainless systhetic rilfes for use. The just take it better.

Major Caliber
.243 will do all of that

Any of the two calibers will do ,but my advice would be the Swede . Handloaded my Swede gives better trajectory with 120 gr bullets than my 243 with 100 gr bullets .

Go for SS/Synth .

Hi.

Great olympics so far.

I would choose the 6,5x55 because it handles the 155 and the 160 grain bullets better, unless you would like a short action rifle.

Wood or syntetic? If you like wood, choose wood.
