WooHoo! I got my WY Buffalo ranking today!
I will not, repeat, will not get to hunt buffalo this fall. I am number 364 out of 1300 or so applicants. Damn.
Anyone else get theirs?

I got number 893 out of 1,452 resident bull applicants.

Guess I'll be saving some ammo this year too.

A ranch within 30 miles of where I live let's you shoot one for 500 bucks. Seems like they might help you gut it and load it up.

No offense Johnny, but I don't want to shoot a cow in a pen. It's gotta be free ranging and wild or it just isn't hunting. That goes for all species except man. There are a few caged ones that deserve that. JMHO.

I got a letter from Wyoming yesterday, I celebrate my first ever MOOSE POINT!

Now, how many must I get before drawing????

With one point you might have to wait until your 73 to draw on points, but you still stand a chance on the 25% set aside for everyone. Problem is, the G&F lowerd all moose and sheep tags significantly this year as well as raised the price to offset the fewer tags sold.

My question is, why did they lower sheep and moose tags? Wolves, bears, drought? I think bears and wolves. I also heard that they have eliminated cow/calf elk tags in some areas. One in particular is the Carter Mountain area where they sold hundreds of tags ever year. Lots of lost revenue for the G&F and I wonder why?

Oh no those wolves are just to cute and friendly to be causing that type of shit.

Actually wyoming wildlife magazine.Had an article claiming that any money lost from tag sales due to fewer tags being issued because of wolf kills, would be offset by the extra money generated off of wolf tourism and wolf education programs. They failed to say exactly how this money was going to be redirected from tourism to the GF though. I guess that was better left untold, just so they wouldn't have to tell another bullshit story.

When you consider how the sheep migrate all over during winter, they have to be a perfect target for wolves. GF has blamed eagles and other birds of prey for lamb mortality,so you can bet the wolf is worse.

The fee increase came way before the reduction in tags.
