Any Mountion Lion deal around??
Anyone heard of any Colorado or Utah cat hunts floating around for this fall or Jan of '14? Would be interested in some winter adventure.

Thanks in advance

I told you guys that these brothers are the best and I got ahold of one of them today and guess what they were doing. They were cat hunting, running them dry ground with their dogs and they killed a GIANT! I'll get pics up as soon as they send em

Just got a cell phone picture of the cat my buddies killed today and its huge!

I will get a better pic tomorrow and post it.

On the way down the mountain today one of the brothers was thrown from a mule and broke a vertebrae in his neck. He is a lucky guy but he's one of the toughest dudes I have ever met and will be back at it shortly.

I dont normally give glowing endorsements of anybody but these twins are different. They are honest, fair and the hardest hunting guys I know. They are DAMN GOOD!

Here's the cell phone pic. Keep on mind that the guy holding the cat is about 6'2" and 220+ lbs

Sure, if you don't mind your guide breaking game laws and letting the dogs out before legal hunting hours. About ten years ago, I was driving down a dirt road (dogs in the back, looking for a track only) in an area that he frequents and one of his guides drove by with no dogs (and no client) at 4:30 am or so. The guide claimed the dogs "accidentally escaped" but the client who was asleep back at the motel killed a whopper B&C cat that day anyway. I treed one up too, but I was not at all amused by that kind of rubbish....and neither is UDWR. Conversations with game wardens revealed that Wade and his people were often suspected of such things. Run....run far away from his operation.

Any time. I really try not to bad mouth outfitters, but this was not hear-say. When I see stuff like that first hand, I feel obligated to say something.

This argument has been going on for years. U said the same thing when i asked about outfitters for MT lion outfitters years ago.
Get over it.
Ive hunted with him for three strait years and never saw one thing illegal. Ask larryshores, hes hunted with wade many times. I assure you wade has a very good name in the state of utah

Good luck

I guess a little outlaw in all outfitters.
Karl S told me one time: not all outfitters are outlaws but all the ones he knows are.

Bullshit...and certainly not with the client still at the motel (also illegal). In southeastern Utah , Wade's name is anything but admirable.

So in your opinion Wade is an illegal outifitter, what is your opinion of Doyle Moss?

Aside from his rumored impromptu "privatization" of public land when he has a client in the area, I know little about him. In both cases, where there is smoke there is fire...but I personally saw the fire burning in the Lemon case.

Woodsie, you seem awfully quick to pardon illegal activity because I am apparently "a jealous local". Listen, I treed up a nice cat on that hunt so I have no personal beef there. I also probably shoot more than my fair share of game globally so I have no reason to hold professional success against a guy like Lemon. I will however hold illegal activities against him. If a guy leaves his hunter at the motel, trees up a canned cat, and does it all before legal hunting hours, he is a thief in my mind. You can label it jealousy if it makes you feel better, but I know what I saw and don't really appreciate effectively being called a liar because I am "a local". I am, to be frank, fortunate in that I don't honestly feel jealous of anyone over basically anything...much less something relatively trivial like hunting success. Now, I will also note that my experience was about a decade ago...so maybe he has cleaned up his act.

I believe I mentioned that in the first post on this topic. I was actually trying to be generous to Wade but now I will be realistic. How often does a criminal change his stripes? I believe he also got in some trouble back in the mid 1990s for trying to pass a Utah bear (also taken using an illegal method) off as taken in Idaho. The Utah season had closed by a few days.

I have followed this thread and have started to voice my opinion on the matter and quit mid stream. Being an outfitter from BC the outfitting business is a lot different. Here we have to buy the rights to guide a certain area.(a cheap area will run you $200,00.000) Once we own the rights we are the only people allowed to guide or outfit in that area. This does two things,
1: keeps you honest as the goverment can take your area away from you if found guilty of a game violation. ( with no compensation)

2. it makes you manage your game much better as there is no competition with other guides.
ie: shooting female lions

As far as Wade is concerned all I know about him is he is a hunting fool and has some good dogs. Getting involved with the bear coverup and pleading guilty will hang over him for ever.
My question is was Wade ever reported for the alleged cougar deal?

That all you got in the face of evidence? The blind hero worship here is really only rivaled by the recent Boddington thread! As an aside, Wade technically is a criminal having plead guilty in the bear case. Smiler

Im just saying, I know u wouldnt do it. Your an internet cowboy with a hard on for things that happen in a decade ago. The 90's was almost 14 years ago. From my experience being his client for 3 years in a row, Its not hero worship, Its called being a friend and good customer.(I only hero worship Jim SHockey)
As Suggested in a PM to check out the Huntingreport.com
Tendrams, You have a anger management issue if you still are so upset about things that happened so long ago.

No anger at all....just a long memory and I am careful about where I spend my money. And If I am in Utah for the next hunt expo, I will make it a point to stop by Wade's place if he has a booth...just for you.

Sorry I got Hot Headed for a moment. I dont like to argue or be angry.
Tendrams, i am sorry if I said anything negative to you. i dont like to do that.
Also, It is obvious we have different views on this utah outfiter. Maybe we can agree to disagree.
Anywho,

I hunted with Wade in the past and saw nothing illegal. I would hunt with him again. When I was with him he seemed to do everything by the book.
With that being said, I would like to take my 10 year old son on a hunt this summer before he goes back to school. I was thinking bear or Mountain lion with dogs.
Any recommendations for a lion hunt this summer? I think hunting with dogs would keep my sons attention and he would really enjoy it.

Thanks,

That would be a great deal to take him
But I believe lion and bear are closed now in the lower 48
Most states end in may
I think I have a contact with a backwoods bear hunt till the end of June in Idaho

There are some units in Idaho that are open until the end of July. Here are the 2013/14 dates. I would be surprised if 2012/13 dates were too different.

Nevada has no season for Mt Lion. You can hunt them year round. I don't know of any outfitters or directions to point you. Just letting you know it's an option. Mt lion tags are the only over the counter tag that can be purchased in NV. I have bought them in the past for the off chance that while out calling for coyote or bobcat I call in a lion.
