OTC bear tags: non-resident
Thinking about a spot'n stalk Fall black bear hunt for me and my son...

Does Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana offer over-the-counter Black bear tags to non-residents?

I'm not sure about those states, but Oregon has OTC general season bear tags. The season starts August 1st. A non-resident license costs $76.50, and the bear tag is $151.50. The southwest part of the state has the best population density. We'd love to have you guys over here to help control the population a bit.

I'm not a bear hunter...yet so my info is limited but, in MT you have to buy your bear tag by mid August for the fall season. You also have to take a Bear ID test (online) prior to tag purchase.

$350 for non-resident plus $20 for conservation and hunting enchancement fees.

I think Montana still does, I hunted black bear there for 12 years.

I know Idaho does, I hunt there nearly every year, and sometimes twice a year, in spring and fall.

The area I hunt is to thick for spot and stalk, you must hunt over bait.

I can recommend a great outfitter for Idaho.

Idaho has a spring and a fall season. You can buy 2 OTC tags each in some units. Spot and stalk, hounds and bait are allowed. Search Idaho Fish and Game and prepare for sticker shock.

Arizona does. N/R license is $151.25 and the bear tag is $245. Probably a good area would be area 27 which is where I'll be trying for a bear come Oct 2. I'll be hooking up with a non-resident hunter as well at that time. Should be an interesting hunt.

Alaska is great in the fall for spot and stalk. If your in good enough shape to do some climbing and get up to the blue berry hillsides a lot of fun can be had.
