Does anybody here know of a link to a site that would show how to do this? Looking for info on how to count the rings on a thinhorn sheep.

Unless you have looked at a lot of sheep horns, by this I mean held them in your hands, I would not rely on counting growth rings to age a sheep in the field. Broomed rams may or may not broom off a growth ring and there are also false annuli that look like a groth ring and are not.

At the BC Wild Sheep Society annual fundraiser we always count the rings on the sheep that are mounted and you would be surprised at the different ages people get. I would not take the chance, nothing like taking a what you think is a trophy of a lifetime and having it confiscated and you paying a fine for shooting a illegal sheep.
