Savage getting better
Well I tried the tip Dutch suggested. I put two pieces of plastic pop bottle under the action and low and behold the groups got smaller. Still needs work but then the trigger and scope change should help that.

Kromer, this is a little "trick" to see if your Savage tang is binding. In the 110/10 series, it is not supposed to touch the stock.

To check, place a shim at the two main places of contact, one behind the front action bolt (behind the recoil lug), and one in front of the rear action bolt. This should raise both the barrel and the tang free and clear from the stock. If interference is the problem, the rifle will then shoot very much better. It that was the problem, a little bedding and inletting would make the solution permanent. HTH, Dutch.

Ummmm yet another neat little trick thanx!

I went to the range this weekend with my new 12 FVSS (.308) spent all day braking in the barrel and cleaning, now I know not to expect much from UMC but I could not help my disappointment with 1.5 to 2 inch at 100. If they don't get closer with next week I might just try your trick
