<Swift Shot>30-338 Winchester Magnum
I am looking at this round now for my rifle. It will be a T/C Encore with 26 inch barrel and Magna ported. I am looking and it uses about the same powder charge as a 7mm Rem Mag however it seems to get better velocity. I am looking at trying to cover most animals with 2 barrel setups the other one will be 243 Winchester.
I am just wondering what you people think. I am looking and it looks to me like it will work pretty good for everything from elk to brown bear.
Thanks guys.

Bill MIn addition to Elk-bear, I'd bet it would even work on coyotes and deer!
I never knew what the need for the 30-338 cartridge was, but it has won its' share of 1000 yard matches.
Don't forget your hearing protection....
Best regards,
Bill

<allen day>I think you ought to get a .300 Winchester instead.

CanuckI've always liked the 308 Norma, but I think I would probably just stick with the 300 Winnie too.

AtkinsonIt is really a good round and properly designed, but it is a wildcat..If that does not bother you then your on the right track..It is a better designed case than the 300 Win, but thats probably a minor point..The 300 Win. is definately more practical...but I shoot the 300 H&H and I still feel it is the best of the 300's.
