elite 4200 or sightron
I am going to get a new scope for my 22-250 and I was wanting to try to get some opinions on B&L elite 4200.I have looked throught sightron and have read alot of good things about them and I am really not sure what to try.The ones that I am looking at is the 6*20*40 elite or the 6*24*42 sightron.

I have one of the B/L elite 4200 6x24x40 on top of my 223 (rem 700 pss). The scope is very clear. I think its a very good scope for the money. Rich

I have a Bausch and Lomb 4200 Elite 6-24 40mm and it is very bright and clear (a noticeably better image than my Leupolds).

The eye relief is slightly less then my Leupolds (but not by much), but it hasn't cut my eyebrow on a .358 Norma Mag with loads that churn up .375 H&H energy (nor has the scope fallen apart or exhibited any other problems).

Also, the adjustments of the scope are very precise which is important if you don't just hold over or into the wind.

I got the mil-dot version on sale for $364 (now $389) but you can get a non-mildot version at

SWFA and for $379.

I talked to a tech rep at SWFA, and he said that they have sold boxcars of these scopes and had no reservations about it being a very tough and clear scope. I told him that I was going to use it on my .358 Norma and my .375 H&H for hundreds of rounds while working up loads, and I asked him again if it could handle this amount of recoil. He assured me that it could and that the only scope that would be much better for my (somewhat odd!) application was the Nightforce (which is WAY more money!).

The scope has good eye relief even at top power, and a wide field of view. However, to get these characterists Bausch and Lomb made the scope very long. However, it makes mounting easy and some like the look on the rifle.

I have not examined a Sightron of this power, so I cannot speak first hand. However, I have looked through a 3-9 (or 3-10, something like that) Sightron and it was not particularly clear -- certainly not in the same league. However, that was only one scope...

I have two Sightron 6-24x42MD's. One is on a 6mm Rem and the other is on a 7mm Mag. Both guns are used mostly for varmint shooting and paper punching.
The clairity and brightness are superb.
I have found that thier ExacTrack system has been true to thier claims.
Each of these scopes have over 750 rounds on them and I've had no problems.
I have been very satisfied with mine.

I looked at the 8+32+40 elite today and I wasn't nearly impressed with it as I was the 24 power elite. The 32 power seemed to blur at full power.
