Todd WilliamsBrace of Bobcats!
After 44 years of hunting, I've never taken a bobcat. I missed one with archery equipment back in the early 80's, and missed one at 10 yards while deer hunting with a rifle. Passed a few while deer hunting so as not to scare off my main quarry, but just never put it together.
So my buddy Dave Fulson and I talked about changing my luck on bobcats back this spring while turkey hunting on the ranch I have leased. We finally put it together last night and attempted to call in some critters. The result was that Dave produced a brace of cats, one female and one male. Very nice cats and a great way to break my bobcat curse.
The male was a salty old cat who must have been hunted previously. He appeared just out of range, circled behind a small ridge, and got down wind of us. Figuring we had blown the opportunity, Dave pulled out all the stops by leaving the caller on while we got out of the truck bed and attempted to circle staying down wind of the circling cat, hoping he would stay focused on the call. It was a gutsy move at the time considering the noise but it was just the ticket to bring this old boy to bag.
Thanks Dave for a super fun night of chasing varmints.

Randal - Thanks!
It was a fun evening as it's been a long time since I've done a night varmint hunt like this. Just a reminder that whatever level of hunting you're participating in,
it's all good !!
