My first Maine moose
Finally drew a Maine moose tag!! Had a great time, met a lot of great folks AND got a moose
in the process. Can't beat that!
My bull was older and past prime but still a
great animal(900 lbs). Being older, I thought the meat would be tough so I had several roasts cut, saved the tenderloin and backstrap, the rest is mooseburger (never had a tough burger) and my wife makes great Mexican dishes with game meat.
Bull was not a "trophy" but I'm happy!
Took him at about 250 yds, one shot with a
270 Win. with handloaded 150gr Nosler Partition.

Well as I said, 900 lbs, additional info: 44 inch spread, got him in WMD 2. He was estimated to be 8 years old. Hunted with Lugdon Lodge guide in Eagle Lake ME. who I can recommend highly for any lucky folks who draw a tag in that area. There were 8 hunters in camp, all but one tagged out the first day. Most had cow tags I think.

Congrats! Not to many people from Mass on this forum, glad you got it done. How long did you apply for?

StormsGSP, surprisingly there are quite a few
hunters in MA. Problem is, we are surrounded by so many tree huggers, most just stay silent and go hunting, most frequently out of state!
This was my eighth year of applying and at 73 years old, I don't expect to be drawn again.
Approx. 400lbs of boned meat!

I'm from MA as well, so I know what you mean. I was more referring to many people from MA on this forum. Congrats again!
