Living outside of Denver I could not agree more with the posts above. I have also hunted Three Forks Ranch and must mention that is North of Craig just under the Wyoming state line so give yourself more time (Approximately 1hr drive to Baggs, WY then another 45min to Three Forks, 5.75hrs total from Denver in good weather). I drive to Craig from Denver taking I70 to Hwy40 (Winter Park Exit), then stay on 40 all the way to Craig (Nice winding 2-lane scenery once you get off I70).

I was going to mention those options, but it seemed that the gent inquiring wanted to get to Craig ASAP. Those routes are a little longer, but not too much, and as you stated, very scenic. Anything to stay out of Denver.
