Take a look at North Western Montana, great country. They have bear deer elk and grouse. Good fishing too. Moose, goat and sheep in very limited numbers [permit drawing only. Also good hunting accross border in Idaho.
I have spent a lot of time up there and will spend a lot more when I retire.
Go up there and get set up get some horses, Ill come up and hunt with you.

GatogordoI know what you said, but if you can really afford a lodge out west, consider property in South Africa. Buy a smaller place out west, hunt there in the fall and hunt in Africa all during our spring/summer. Take the winter off.

hammerdownHey sakofan, I Just happen to have some good friends that have a nice hunting lodge for sale in Northwest Montana. 150 acres with 9,000+/-sf lodge, complete with bunk house, barn, equipment shed and much more. What a place of peace and serenity. Just called them and gave them your e-mail address, they will be getting ahold you on thursday, 6/26/03. Hunting is great, fishing is fantastic. My family and I have spent many of Thanksgivings and holidays there. Wish you luck on finding you a lodge.
