I have heard some hunters say they would never hunt bear or any dangerous game with a push feed action . That a mauser type is the only way to go. How true is this have you guys ever had any problems ejecting the big bores with your push feeds (.338 and up) For this reason i am thinking of buying a win. classic model 70. However i love the remington 700 bolt actions. I want to purchase a .338rum. What do you guys think about the subject of mauser vs push feed . thanks Dave

I think the notion is pretty much hogwash.
I've never had a problem with my 700's feeding in the next round.

Consider that the German mg42 is a pushfeed & even at a cyclic rate of 1600 rounds per minute it works just fine. I doubt if my beloved Mauser controll feed could handle that or the Germans would have designed the MG42 with a control feed extractor. Its all in the design.

Look, The military uses the Rem model 700 push feed for it's sniper rifles. They don't seem to have any problem with push feed. If you can think of a more dangerous game than another armed soldier then you may need a crf gun but I don't think you can! I have a Ruger M77 MKII with CRF but I don't think that the CRF is a big advantage.

I've taken two Buffalo with 416 Rem in a Rem 700, no problem. If CRF is so important, why do many PH's follow up wounded Leopard or Bears with shotguns?
