McKenzie OutfittersGeorgia outdoor opportunities?
My Nephew is going to be in Bainbridge, Georgia area taking course this spring.
Justin is hoping to experience what the south has for fishing & hunting during his stay for a month.
Imagine there will be turkey & hog hunting in April/May?
Wandered if anyone had some info on locations or people who could help him out.
thanks

larrysMonty, go to the NWTF web site and look for Kevin Lowrey. He is a wildlife biologist for the state of Georgia. I am out of town for the week, or I would give you his email.

adamhunterLake Seminole is close to Bainbridge and has several WMA tracts that border the lake. I have not hunted them so can't speak for the turkey population though. I have fished Seminole on several occaisons and it is a good bass lake. Very shallow lake with a lot of hydrilla grass. It's also one of the best lakes for ducks in GA.
Here is a link to WMA maps.

joesterCheck out the coastal tidal river islands just south of Savannah for hogs. You go in by boat and use a dog, loaded with hogs. You can watch them digging clams at low tide & eating fiddler crabs. Google up outfitters down that way. A fun inexpensive day hunt (I shot 2 before lunch) or you can stay in a rustic camp. Not to be missed! Then stop at Bubba's restaurant (Paula Deen's brother's place) back in Tibee Island & order the cheesy, garlic-y grilled oysters. Wow!

David CulpepperThere is also that outfit that hunt hogs at night with night vision scoped rifles. I can't remember the name of the outfit right now but they have posted on AR in the past. They basically go to properties where farmers are having trouble with hogs doing crop damage.

JustOneMoreShotJager Pro is another outfit with nightvision and thermal optics for hunting hogs at night. Really cool deal. I have not done it but would like to someday.
