I just came across a book by Selous on NA Big game hunting. I had no idea he hunted over here as much as he did nor write a book about it! Am I the only one??

Congrats on getting the book. I have known for years about his hunting in NA, but I am still trying to acquire a copy of the book in good condition that I can afford.

On one of his Yukon trips his hunting companions were Mr. Wilfred Osgood, Mr. Charles Sheldon and Mr. Carl Rungius!

The shop owner is hanging on to it for me- he wants $250- I have no idea if that’s fair or not. Your thoughts on the price would be appreciated- it’s in Good condition.

You should have a look at the AbeBooks exchange. There are numerous copies on there prices vary a lot depending on when it was published. Quite a few reprints by various companies. Needless to say an original first edition is at the high end price wise. You could compare the book you looked at with the various books on ABE. Newer prints started at about $40 and went up to $290 for an original first edition.
