beemanbemeHey guy, if you come in here with what is basically a dumb ass question and don't expect a bit of humor, then you may possibly be in the wrong room. I mean, angsting over what set of cammies to wear. Geeeeeeeez.

beemanbemeI'm fairly familar with the Pea Ridge area of Arkansas and have spent quite a bit of time down around Dardenelle. I hunted over 20 years around Memphis. In the various bottems along the Mississippi. I have spent a great deal of time in tree stands. I have killed a lot of deer using a 12ga shotgun and a rifled slug while wearing blue jeans. And I am gonna let you in on a little secret: Far and away more important than what set of cammies your wear is the ability to stalk game and, while on stand or in a stand, BE STILL!!!! During the 20+ years I lived in Memphis, so many guys got to thinking that if they put on a set of cammies, it made them invisible. And they could do anything they wanted. By the time I moved away from Memphis, the deer were decidedly looking into the trees for hunters! I have been slipping thru the woods and long before I could see the hunters, I could hear them. Twisting and squirming, opening their pop cans, unwrapping their candy bars, coughing, spitting, and so forth. Of course, there was a rain of debris falling out of the tree to the ground. Soon you would spot a wad of vegetation clinging to the side of a tree that was moving, coughing, swaying, and so forth even tho the woods were dead still. These animals are not totally stupid.
There are no magic bullets nor rifles that will compensate for a lousy shooter; nor are there any magic scent suppressing cammie suits that will compensate for an inability to stalk or BE STILL.
Last fall I had a 2x2 buck come close enough to me to touch with my rifle. The air was still and when he came into my scent envelope, he kept looking at me but wasn't sure that I was anything. (let's face it, east of the big river, few deer don't smell or have contact with humans every day) He was somewhat alert but not spooked by any means. I never moved nor looked directly at him and he eased off thru the woods. Once he was out of contact with my scent, he went back to browsing. At the time, I was seated under a tree wearing a brown shirt, orange vest, blue jeans and Nike sneakers.
