TXPOA Pic Of My Favorite Exotic
I love these little guys! The deer lease that I'm on right now in Roosevelt, Texas has a pretty good herd of Blackbuck running around on it. I was able to take a few photos of this guy this past weekend. I was waiting to pic up a friend of mine out of one of the stands one evening last weekend when this curios fellow got close enough for me to snap a few photos. He isn't the biggest in the herd but he is pretty good.
There are also a few Sitka (or is it 'Sika'?), a few Fallow and also a pretty good herd of Axis on this place too.
I have a nice 21" Blackbuck at the taxidermist that I shot this summer on another ranch.....I should be getting him back anytime.

StonecreekThe Blackbuck is probably one of the more desireable of the exotics in that it doesn't compete very heavily with the native whitetails. Axis, sika, and fallow, on the other hand, are pretty hard on native whitetails. Also, blackbucks are not jumpers and can be contained by regular-height net wire sheep fencing. This allows a landowner to stock with blackbuck and still allow beneficial free ranging of whitetails.
That's a really nice one you've photographed. They don't get very large, but they are a beautiful trophy.

Bobby TomekThat is a great blackbuck. I have one on the wall that I took a few years ago with an XP-100 in .250 Savage down on the Corazon Ranch near Brackettville. Each horn went 20 1/8th.
By the way, I was in the big town of Roosevelt this past November. I enjoyed the little general store there. (THey even took a photo of me & a buck I toom just a few miles from there. He was my best ever: 8 pts. with a spread of 18 5/8ths.)

Bob in TXYou left out the best part......they taste great!! I have a 20" blackbuck on my wall from a friend's low-fenced ranch near Barksdale. The free-ranging Blackbuck are a challenge to still hunt. They are very wary and have that good ol' antelope vision!

Greg RAnn,
I will be happy to take very good care of you if you ever make it down to Texas. TXPO has helped me on a couple of hunts lately, and I will make sure he comes down to video for us. You need a vacation after the raffle!
