BuglemintodayDeer horn growth...??
So, how much more will a deer's horn grow at this point of the year?
The reason I ask is I just swapped memory cards on my game camera at my new lease and I got one picture of a good 10 pointer that came in and I am wondering if he will grow any more.
Thanks

larrysDeer antlers generally grow until right before the velvet is shed in Sept/Oct timeframe. You could, with the right nutrition and water, pick up more growth. How much, depends on conditions and deer age.

olarmyBugle: IMO, it will depend on the local situation. for example, the rut in central and east Texas happens well before the rut in south Texas. Therefore bucks drop their antlers earlier in central and east, fawns are dropped earlier, and antlers start/stop growing earlier. So in east and central TX, the antlers are probably pretty close to fully developed. In south TX, they still have a ways to go. Sorry, don't know what the cycle is near Midland.

Wendell ReichIt will vary depending on the deer. I have seen 10 pts this week with 5" of G4, I have also seen deer that are just starting to grow their G3's and only have 12" of main beam growing.
Hard to say, but he does have some more growing time.

vapodogOf the bucks I've seen lately I'm guessing the "racks" are about 50% (or less) of what they will be in the final form.
