My second rifle is a Remington 700, in a .416 caliber, all I shoot in that is Federal factory loads, I've taken Hippo, Elephant(a 458 was also used on the same Elephant, the 416 out preformed it) Buffalo, croc, Eland, Zebra, and 2 porkypines! the .416 solids did alot less damage on them then the .270.

I'm heading back to Zimbabwe next September, going for Lioness, Sable, Buffalo. & giraffi, all with the 416. my .270 will be with me for the plainsgame.

I'm very happy with these two calibers, I feel theres nothing I can't take with just these two calibers. I'm gald to see you have a .270, good start!!!!

Hi Ron, how do you do?

I can see (better say read ) that you have a Rem 700 in .416 ... I by myself have the very same one (Rem 700 Safari KS from the custom shop) but as you know, upto now cant say much about it - and thanks to your generosity, I hope to change that matter soon - indeed my other "Africa: soon to go" rifle is a Rem 700 Custom KS Mountain Rifle in .375 H&H ... I just dont want to start any PF vs CF war nor an anti Rem discussion, but just looking eager for an experienced first hand opinion (and after seen those pictures of your trophies I will like to know yours )

Have you got any sort of problem with this rifle of yours (call it failing extractions, pressure peaks, etc) ????

Was its performance as it was expected? Did you have to do any custom job in it, either to solve any inconvenience or just to improve it ?

As I told you, I changed the factory sights of mine to a fiber type (TRU GLO)... now I am waiting for those cases to arrive !!

Heres a link to a post I once did on that matter ...
