phurleyRe: North American Hunting Club? Heard of it?????
I was a member for a couple of years and liked the magazine. However, I did not like all the promotional material they sent me weekly or monthly. New books, movies, videos, etc. It seemed like I got something in the mail every time I turned around, either a renewal notice or a new promotional of some kind. Sometimes they sent a video without me responding positively to the promotion, then I had to either keep it and pay for it or send it back. I did not renew simply to get them off my back. I guess I have this thing about getting a renewal notice monthly starting just one month after I signed on.

Good shooting.

MacD37Unfortunetly, I've been a life member for years, and I too got all the unsilisited videos, belt buckles, and books, and for a while I bought the films, but would get a nasty letter from them for non payment two days after I had recieved the film. I got tired of this harrassment, and sent them a letter stateing if they sent me anything else that I did not order, I would keep it, and I would not pay for it, or send it back! I no longer get anything from them except the magazine!
Another thing, do not take their reccomendations on hunting outfitters, they will reccomend anyone who advertizes in their magazine. They have given one black bear outfitter in Ontario a 100% rateing for several years when all the while members have written them that the outfit has screwed them out of their money! I'm a life member, and my member number will not even access their website anymore. I don't think they like me anymore, because I speak my mind to the members! The only reason they still send me the magazine is, they would have to send my money for the Life Membership back if they didn't!
I guess you can tell I'm not inamored with NAHC!

GatehouseThey sent me a letter saying that I could check out thier magazine and join if I want, but I could try for free. So what the heck, I say sure, send me a sample.
Somehow they interpret that as I want to be a member, so they send me some cheap pin and other shit, and an invoice.
They kept sending me invoices and I kept throwing them out. Eventually they stopped. I though thier magazine sucked, too.
BTW, if they send you stuff unsolicited, like books, just keep it. You are NOT going to end up in court over a video or book, despite what they threaten you with.

WstrnhuntrThey keep sending me their offers to join at discounted prices and all the nonsense that comes with it. Every time I give the little key ring to my daughter to play with and place the rest of the trash mail in the can. It struck me as just another ripoff scam from their first letter. Apparently I was right.

Aspen Hill AdventuresI have been told that any outfitter can advertise in their magazine for free as long as they offer a "member discount" on hunts. I don't think I would put much stock on the quality of the hunt/outfitter just because it is in their listing.
