Hunter308South Dakota Guide
I've read about the Black Hills area of southwestern South Dakota and am looking to hunt deer in that area. Does anyone know of a rancher who allows hunters on his property that isn't too expensive? Or a guide service?
thx!

1st you need a tag. The deadline is the 8th. 2nd: Their are 1.6 million acres of public land. You don't need to hunt on private land. I have hunted here for 25 years and never on private land.

Hunter308Thanks for the info. My problem is that I've never been to the Black Hills and wouldn't know where to go without a guide, or even what units to apply for tags for!
I suppose I could just pick units in the Black Hills National Forest and find a guide between 8 July and when hunting season starts...
Thanks - and pls send any more advice if you think of any.

murftjIf you aren't a resident of SD, your chances of drawing are slim for the Black Hills, if it is a buck tag you want. I think there are usually doe tags left over though, if that is what you want. Counties to apply would be Pennington, Custer, and Lawrence.
