Suit challenges Montana's grizzly bearing hunting proposal
By Dennis BraggCONNECT
MISSOULA -
Montana's proposals to allow grizzly bear hunting after the bears are no longer protected under the Endangered Species Act is being challenged in court.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is considering the move to "de-list" the grizzlies in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, with a proposal suggesting the bears have recovered to the point where they no longer qualify for federal protection.
That means Montana, Idaho and Wyoming must develop regulations to control hunting, which would be used as a means of controlling the grizzly populations in and around Yellowstone. Montana's Fish, Wildlife and Parks Commission already adopted the proposed rules in mid-July.
The new lawsuit filed Friday by The Humane Society, the Center for Biological Diversity and Bozeman resident Clint Nagel, complains they've been kept from commenting on Montana's regulations, especially pertaining to "trophy hunting".
The suit aims to force FWP to re-open the public comment period.

No one. As predictable as the rising of the sun.
It is a genius way for these jack wipes to raise money, though. Chair-sitting environmentalists feeling righteous by giving money to the 501c3s who are fighting for grizzlies right to live without fear of being shot. Great business model, gotta give 'em that.
Can't wait until I can buy a tag.

boarkillerI hope we get to hunt them one day
That would be awesome
You do wish we had them in all or most of historical ranges, especially in Selway Bitterroot and Big Hole valley where ( Old Liver Eating Johnson was hired there in 1860' by cattle ranchers to kill them and protect cattle)
What an amazing times
ll could be so again if we got over the fear of predators and ranchers didn't have so much clout over us hunters, but that always gets me in trouble when I open my mouth
