Brown Bear Hunt in AK; any suggestions?
I have only hunted in Alsaka once and that was about 7 years ago when I hunted with Adams Guide Service. We had a great caribou/black bear hunt that August.
Last night I was visiting with a friend and he brought up the idea us going on a brown bear hunt. I could contact Adams again, and we did see several brown bears while on our hunt, but I am open to other ideas if the hunt could possibly be better.
Is there any advantage to hunting them in the spring vs fall? Any particular area of AK that might be best? Who would you hunt with if you wanted a chance at a moose as well? And lastly, how much do most hunts like this generally cost?
Thanks!

prices can range from around $10,500 to $18,000. non-res lic. $85, b.b. tag about $550.

most guys go in the sprg, hopefully before hides are rubbed. in fall, hunt the salmon streams. body sizes are bigger, before denning up. visibility is worse, due to more foliage.

you may have better luck with this in the ak. hunting board.

Spring,

I hunted with Jerry Austin this fall and took a good bear. Their was 4 of us in camp and we all took a bear and saw lots of bears. He hunts about 40 miles outside of St. Michael which is up towards Nome. I am told the bears are bigger down south and souteast Alaska, but Jerry gets some big bears each year. Mine was nine feet.

You can see a picture of the bear I took over on the Big Bore forum under 404 and grizzly thread.

Any questions let me know.
