Kentucky banning pig hunting
Kentucky finalizing ban on hunting feral swine in hopes of slowing their advance

Because an “educated” pig is harder to track or trap, Kentucky is taking steps to prevent the hunting of feral hogs known to damage crops, woodlands and potentially spread disease.  Kentucky wildlife management officials are finalizing a ban on the hunting of wild pigs in an effort to more easily capture them. Under the new regulation, pigs could still be shot if they’re damaging private land, although wildlife experts are encouraging landowners to instead contact the Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources to have the animals removed.  Steven Fields, an attorney for the department, told lawmakers during a legislative hearing earlier this week that if a sounder — the name for a herd of wild swine — knows it’s being hunted, the sounder avoids humans and shifts its activities to night, making it harder to track.

Kentucky is following the Kansas & Missouri model.
Once you dig in to it, you'll see that the state is receiving federal disaster relief aid for the "Hog epidemic". The Missouri Department of Conservation did a good job of trying to burry this information, as I expect Kentucky will too.

It's not about eliminating hogs, it's about keeping the money flowing.

The new law does not prohibit hunting by land owners. And I have read that sport hunting can't eliminate wild hogs. In fact, it can serve tp promote their growth and expansion. Pigs are much smarter than any other game animal and learn quickly. Faster than dogs.
So, get the facts first. Of course, hunters never want to hear that they can't do something.
Yes I have hunted them in many states.

Wildlife agencies have there own agenda. A lot of time it is to promote themselves.

There should not be sport hunting of hogs

They should be hunted ruthlessly 24/7 bounties paid and private land owners who protect them be fined.

Many land owners like making money by selling hog hunts. They to not want them eliminated.

The idea, and it is true, is folks illegally transport these pest into KY for shooting purposes.

We have killed a few that have found our place. They are very much not wanted.

The idea of cutting on demand being no hunting will hopefully stop folks from transporting them to areas for shooting. I saw my first boar dead on the side of the road yesterday.

Now, TN tried this first. I thing it failed. However, I am uncertain.

I am all for stopping pigs from being moved into and about the Commonwealth.
