Mad DogMoon Phase and Bear Hunting
I know it affects deer hunting and hog hunting. But in the fall when black bears are feeding on berries and plums, in the mountains, do you think a full moon affects the number of daylight sightings one might see?

ELKMAN2From my hunting in the swamps of MN. Yes, I think the moon does affect bears activity. Those bright moon light nights the hunting was not as good as it was durning the dark of the moon.

NBHunterAround here we don't like the full moon during bear season. A lot of the smaller bears that come in early will continue to do so but the bigger (older more so) bears who typically crowd nightfall as is will take their time and sometimes won't move till midnight.
Honestly, I do not know, but I did ask this same question to 4 outfitters in Canada last year. 3 said no, 1 said absolutely.
