Re: mail box buck
sounds like the story my Dad tells about my Uncle. Evidently, they approached a timbered bowl, with a saddle off to one side. My dad, knowing Uncle Phil hunts slower, takes the long route. As my Dad settles in the saddle, he awaits Phil, and presently Phil appears, stillhunting. Out in the middle of the saddle, Phil peers around, decides its safe to "drop a bomb" and lets his drawers drop. About 20 seconds into the manuever, a small band of elk sporting a nice 5 pt. thunders in front of him. Phil, from a crouch, and very surprised, looks for elk but never gets a shot off...my Dad is laughing so hard he couldn't have shot in self- defense!

Taking your gun to the crapper is no guarantee...

My grandfather told a story of how he was on a hunt for several days without seeing a thing. One morning he decides to sleep in and stay around camp to rest up. As he was out in the bush using the "facilities" he saw the biggest buck he had ever seen. Of course his rifle was back at the tent. He told me "Don't even go to the sh*thouse without your gun"
