Re: Grizzly Attacks Cyclist in Wyoming
So, he's on a bike, got a downhill run if he wants it, the bear is 300 ft away, and decides to get off and confront the bear?

If it isn't BS, it might be bad judgement. Kinda like the guy up in Alaska THROWING his shotgun at a bear. Course, I wasn't there, don't really know.

I think the guys made it up... Why would the bear charge from 300yds away? Why didn't it injure the guy even when it got the best of him?

They might have encountered a bear but it seems to me that they made up most of the story.

I guess it sound's better than this... "I was riding my bike when I saw a bear... I fell off and tore up my bike and bent it up. We thought the bear might attack so we sprayed some pepper spray and he went away... Wow... Aren't we lucky to be alive?"... <grin>

Which is why, when my bottle of bear shoo is gone I still have 6 rds of 300 gr. Hornadys in a handy dispenser.

Actually I forego the "bear shoo" step and go straight to the 300 gr. dispenser.

Somehow this story doesnt sound right. Even so the guy was lucky the bear wasnt a Black Bear. When they attack its either them or you and the winner does the eating. Lawdog

Perhaps the bear simply doesn't like pepper sauce on his cyclists?

Now I've heard, mind you HEARD, that Griz like little bells with their pepper sauce!! Must be a roughage thing!!

Now as to the shotgun thing, when I finally came face to face with a Griz, that Model 97 in 12 ga felt very small!! I held fire, we both walked away, we both had funny stories to tell our grandkids!! It was a good day!
