tsieroHunting Barbary Sheep
I am hunting Barbary Sheep in the rim area in southern New Mexico. Has anyone had experience hunting them and if so some tips. Also a reccomendation for a good pair of long range binoculars.

<Flinch>Keep from skylinning yourself and glass a LOT. They have GREAT eyesight, just like all sheep. I highly recommend Leica 8x42 binos, my second pick would be Swarovski in the same range. Flinch

CrosshairsI assume you'll be down in the Southern Guadalupe's? Unless you're on private property? I've hunted down there a couple of times (without finding a suitable sheep). It's huge country so I'd suggest 10x bino's. Buy the most expensive you can afford because with bino's, cost DOES matter. I finally bought a pair of Zeiss (I like Leica too) a couple of years ago and now I wonder why I didn't do it sooner. I spent the same amount on several pair of lesser bino's. That was an ah-ha for me.
Anyway, get high and glass and glass and glass and glass. They are HARD to see. Email me if you have any more specific questions and I'll offer my opinion/experience.
Oh I might mention, it would be a good idea to be in good shape. Those hills are nasty!
