In a press release, authorities report a husband and wife noticed the bear eating from their bird feeder, opened the window and yelled at the bear to scare it off. The bear then turned and charged at the home, breaking through the window and began attacking the couple, while their kids were asleep in their bedrooms.

We have had a couple of similar things occur around here. Frightening.

Rule 1. If a bear is eating out of your bird feeder don't yell at it!

Rule 2: After he's gone either move it to where he can't get to it or get rid of it.

We got rid of ours after this bear got on my deck in Colorado Springs

If you're not careful they'll move in ...

Black bears are destructive and curious. Few things I have witnessed.

Three cubs climb onto the roof of our lodge.

Open up an commercial walk in cooler and take out meat.

Climb onto my 22 foot boston whaler that was tied up to dock and eat my snacks.

Tear off the seat cushion on my four wheeler and eat holes in all four tires.
Climb into a trailer and eat 700 pounds of peanuts in one night.
Roll a 500 gallon diesel tank off of its foundation to eat the rubber hoses and roll around in the diesel fuel.
Had a client shoot a deer last year. By the time he got down from stand to the deer a bear was dragging the doe away.
Climb on top of trucks and SUVs parked at lodge.
Had them walk into container/conex. Once when one of the guides was shoveling peanuts. He stood there and watched him eat for a minute.
You throw in red wolves, rattle snakes and alligators sitting on your dock and it makes for some wild country.

Part of the romance and issues with living in the wild. I lived in the Adirondack Mountains of New York for about 4 years out in the country. I had a "bear proof" garbage can chained down. When i ceme back from town, sometimes with a date at night, you could hear the bears slamming that steel garbage can around. I'd have to flash the lights and beep the horn before we could get in the house lol. I also live on the 9 1/4 circle ranch (first ranch on the west side of the road to Bozeman going North from West Yellowstone that bordered the park. We had a ton of bears from the park on the ranch. I miss it.

Not to have you think I am fearless, I am afraid of snakes, crocodiles and monkeys lol and sharks to some extent.

I miss Montana but the work for me is in Colorado Springs .

Smiler

Bears and I live peacefully as long as they don't mess around the house.

The last season I baited I had 16 different bears with in couple miles of the house.

There are many square miles that that can roam around on and not be near a house.

Leave My stuff alone I leave them alone.

Like last night had a family of raccoons messing around some of them are not coming back.

Don't blame you p dog shooter. I don't mind them close, unless they get aggressive.

I heard many times been around bears my whole life.

Never had a problem. So you don't have to worry.

Bears are bears bears do what bears do.

Many people try to say what bear is thinking.

Dr. Doolittle I presume.
