Wisconsin Wolf Hunt

thecanadianWisconsin Wolf Hunt
With such a sort season (Feb. 22-28) I wish anyone lucky enough to draw a tag a safe and successful hunt. Seems like trapping will be limited so looks like hunters will have a better chance before the quota is reached.

p dog shooterI am in AZ for the winter other wise I most likely would get a wolf permit. Brought a another point instead.
I have 3 preference points (now 4) before I came down to AZ on my morning 4 to 5 mile walk.
I saw fresh wolf tracks daily using a couple of trails it would be very easy to make a trail set. Now with another foot or better of snow even easier.
Or my hound buddy would be very willing to put the pack on one I have don't believe getting a wolf would be hard.
thecanadian if you would want to travel to Hayward a couple of days I could put you onto a good wolf set.

thecanadianThat is a very generous offer. Just my luck I bet I wont even draw, I will keep you posted though.

matt salmJust another point for me, just don’t have the time to go set traps for all of one week... maybe next time.
Shoot straight, shoot often.

The last 3 season all closed within 3 days as the quota was filled.
We have more wolves great winter trapping and hound running conditions.
I highly doubt that it will be open for a full week.

p dog shooterThe ntribes who claimed they do not want a wolf hunt have claimed 50 percent of the tags.
leaving only 119 tags for the rest of Wis.
Divided amongst 6 zones only 31 wolves can be killed by non tribal members in the zone where I live. What a joke.
The quoted in the southern zone is more than the northern zone.
They have very few wolves down there.
What a joke.
Our DNR along with many others have become over run with anti's.

p dog shooterWhat a miss leading head line the quota was 200 wolves.
Non tribal members killed 182.
Sorry if the tribes didn't kill any to bad so sad.
My sources tell me a large percentage were killed with the use of hounds.

I would guess it could be hard on hounds.

Nope most the packs used are also run bear a lone wolf is no trouble for them.
Over the years I been in on a couple of wolf chases.
All I can say is they cover a lot more ground then a coyote.
Where wolves kill hounds is when they are packed up raising their pups.
Then the packs make short work of the hounds.
