UT Bucks and Bulls

murftjUT Bucks and Bulls
I have 2 uncles who are hunting at bucks and bulls in UT this fall. The pricetag is pretty hefty, and I was curious to get info from the board on this hunt. They are hunting mulies and say that the chances are very good at getting a B&C deer. Thanks
Bucks and Bulls produces some great animals every year. The success just depends on which ranch/reservation your uncles are booked to hunt on. I know Kim and his cronies shoot some monsters every year, but I don't know anyone who can yearly guide to B&C animals. The ranches they hunt can produce, but B&B are know for over hunting an area. Case in point would be a ranch in Northern Utah which B&B guided around 30+ hunters a year on. They shot some 190 gross bucks off there, but when the ranch's hunting rights were obtained by another outfitter the harvested score went up. The new guys shoot around 10 bucks a year off the place, with many breaking 200".
Of course B&B charged around $9,000 and the new guys charge around $22,500.
I am sure your uncles will do well. Do you know which ranch/reservation they will be hunting? Or approx price? (this would shed some light on the quality of their hunt)

OldFartI know of one NOrthern Utah guide who cautioned his clients not to shoot the first 6x6 bull they saw because there were so many real trophys in the area. The truth of the matter is that the client would be lucky to see a one-horned spike. While I don't have any information about this group, hopefully references were check prior to booking.

murftjOne of my uncle's is a professional guide, and has guided for B&B before, so his standards are very high. I know what they paid, and it exceeds $9000. I look at it as a once in a lifetime deal, so I would be very surprised to see them shoot at anything under 200; I think they would come home empty than shoot a deer smaller than that.

rdeliusI've hunted with B&B before, and I have a hunt scheduled with them for next year. I hunted the Deseret Ranch a couple of years ago, and took a nice 170 buck. It is not hard to find a 180 buck there, but 200 is a pretty high standard. Doable, but there certainly is not a 200 pt buck behind every bush. B&B is one of the better outfitters out there, but you certainly pay for it. Quality ain't cheap!

KenscoI hunted with Bucks & Bulls for elk in Northeast New Mexico, through Cabela's. They did a super job, and worked as hard as any outfitter / guides I've seen. I wanted to hunt with them again, but their prices for mule deer turned me off. I've killed way too many mule deer to pay that kind of money for another mule deer.

MARK H. YOUNGGuys,
Big mule deer are realy getting spendie but listening to the numbers you are throwing around makes me think our ranch in West TX is not that expensive.
The folks that have had this ranch in their family for over 100 years run a limited hunt program on their 50,000 acres.
Only four 1x1 hunts are conducted each year. Last year the 4 hunters shot 3 over 200 B&C gross. This is not a fluke but a sample of what the genetics are like there.
The hunt is $7500 for 4 hunting days and includes everything plus pick up and delivery from El Paso.
I'll be hunting this ranch in late November and I'm really looking forward to it.
We have 3 openings for next year as of today.
Contact me if I can give you further information.
Regards,
Mark

cummins cowboy7500 for a 190-200+ muley is a good deal, at least compaired to stuff around here, a trophy muley is becomming much more impressive than a 350 bull, I guess here in utah if you draw a LE tag you shouldn't be shooting anything less than a 350 bull. The only thing that would be nice is the scenery sure is a lot nicer here than el paso
in times when one needs a rifle, he tends to need it very badly.....PHC

You may be right about the scenery but this place is in the mountains witnessed by them doing a big horn there every year. Rockies no but mountian yes.

Right across the river in Juarez is some beautiful scenery. I take it you've never heard of the brown breasted bed thrasher?

MARK H. YOUNGDungbeetle and others,
The deer pics I mentioned were taken by cowboys and I really don't want to put them on the Interenet. Definitely not brochure quality. If anyone would like to see them let me know and I will e-mail them to you personally if you give me your address. They are pretty impressive. One deer is 209 gross, 2 are 200 gross and the dink is 184.
Regards,
Mark

Mark,
Just an observation here but this ain't a "Photography Forum", it's a Big Game Hunting Forum. What would any of us care about brochure quality of trophy Mulie pictures? But, thanks anyhow.

Like I said you can send me your e-mail address and I'll send them to you NOW. Also you need to understand that it is my job to represent the outfitter in the best possible light without being deceptive and a couple of those pics are just not up to my standards.
