SnakeLoverHUGE MULE DEER - NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART!!
Don't have a whole lot of details on this, but my brother who lives in WY just passed these photos on. Apparently, from what he has found out, the buck scores ~290 non-typical and would be the 2nd largest ever out of WY. As to the location taken, no one is being specific. The most repeated information is that the deer comes of the Wind River Reservation
Couldn't imagine shooting something like that. Good for her!

DocThis deer was killed on the Indian Reservation. I saw pictures of her with this deer in Discount Sporting Goods in Casper, WY.
Tags are very hard to come by. The story I got was she shot the smallest of the 3 bucks because it was the only one she could see the kill zone on.
I applaud her kill. Excellent buck of a lifetime for anyone.

couesfrom a wyo site;
Two photos of the mule deer Cathy Keene shot on Oct 3, 2004. The general area of the mule deer was in the Owl Creek Mountains on the Wind River Indian Reservation. Shot from a distance of approx 260 yards with one shot from a 300 Ultra Mag. Cathy's husband is a taxidermist and, along with Cathy, owns Ancient Ways Taxidermy near Fort Washakie. He rough scored him at 290-3/8, 40-1/2" wide, with at least 35 scoreable points

CanadianLeftyDoc, just a thought- I would not use a Ballistic tip or Accubond on hard angled shots if you want to take a monster like that back home with you

huntsonoraThis deer was not running with two other bucks that were bigger. The lady that killed it actually missed it on OCt 1 and her and her husband found it again in Oct 3 and killed it. It is the biggest buck they have ever seen in their lives. Look for the articles coming up very shortly in just about every magazine.
This buck is a STUD!

cummins cowboywhy didn't they cape it out, I can't imagine only doing a european mount on something like that, or will they just use another head??
06 November 2004, 15:36
SnakeLoverThey did cape it out. Looks like they simply left the entire skull until they need to cut it down and attach via the mount.
