The danger is always there though now drought conditions make it worse. I hope the boy recovers.

This is a direct result of a referendum vote by an emotional city dwelling public that banned hunting of mountain lions in California.

Before that referendum it was common to see dozens of deer around our home. Now there are very few deer, no fox, bob cat, or coyotes. It has become common to see the cats near homes and even in town along the Sacramento River. There was a cat seen this morning about 1/4 mile from my home.

We have lion sightings in downtown Pacific Grove, King City, Carmel. The lions are running out of deer to kill so now Fifi the poodle is being taken right out of Mrs. Butterworths backyard.

Yep, anyone with brains knew it'd happen. And now the numb nuts want to introduce the Canadian wolf into the state to help eliminate the remaining herds...

If the CATS start eating liberals, we'll have an over population of CATS in California. We'll have to wait and see what happens.

When I moved back to Colorado in the late 80s I started carrying a 45 again when I hike, specifically because I had small children. I've never had an issue by myself (usually I'd be carrying my 270 anyway), but having small children in lion country requires you to be armed and vigilant.
